School is only 7 minutes walk away.
Duncan can get there in under 5.
We usually get there before the bell goes in the morning. Just.
But the trip home can take an hour.
We need to walk, not the pram, not the bike.
We need to dig up stones. We need to put them into piles. We need to sell pretend ice-creams. We need to splash in puddles. We need to balance on fences. We need to wiggle on man hole covers.
But there is something else that someone wants to do.
Someone really wants to join the big kids at school.
